Taking the Herbal Teas to the Farmer’s Market

This past week-end Ron and I took the herbal teas to the farmer’s market. I am always looking for different ways to market the teas. I do a lot of online marketing such as Youtube, blogging, and social media. So, I wondered if some old fashion face to face marketing would be beneficial. Would my local community respond well toward medicinal herbal teas? First, let me set the stage for you. This is the oldest farmer’s market in the DFW area, called Cowtown Farmer’s Market. This is a true farmer’s market with fruits, veggies, dairy, and meats. They allow 40% of the vendors to be artisans, such as breads, coffee, honey and me with herbal teas.

The Tea Table

So I set my table up and sat there wondering about the reaction I was going to receive as a first time vendor and also with the teas. In case you have never been to my tea shop, here is the link for that. I sell mostly medicinal, herbal loose leaf teas. People either really like the teas or they don’t. There usually isn’t a middle ground with tea drinkers. I was excited to learn that tea drinking, especially herbal tea drinking is on the rise! Shoppers seemed excited to know that we plan on bringing the herbal teas to the farmer’s market most every week-end.

Lessons From the Farmer’s Market

Another thing I learned is that stepping away from my computer and trying new ways of marketing my teas was a great decision. I found people who were excited about my product. I’m making friends with the other vendors who want me to succeed as well. The overhead for a farmer’s market is very affordable. We actually moved product and made some money. It was a sunny Saturday morning, I got to visit with people and got the word out in my community about herbal tea.

Hey, if you are ever in the DFW area come and visit us!

Tea That Tames Your Sore Throat

Today, I’m going to be telling you about a tea that tames your sore throat. This is important because with the type of weather most of the United States is experiencing with the warm weather and then the plunges of cold in between, it makes me think we are on a weather roller coaster. With this type of weather people get sick and experience a sore throat. Well, never fear – I bring to you a herbal tea that will help fight a sore throat. I lovingly call it, Sage, the “sore throat tamer” tea.

Herbal Tea Blend

This herbal tea blend is created from 3 different herbs, sage, lemon balm and thyme. The sage is antibacterial, anti-spasmodic and antiviral and it will help the sore throats caused from bacterial or viral infections. The lemon balm helps with adding taste to the tea and also is a relaxer component for your throat. The thyme aids in healing of your throat.

You can watch the video of me making the tea blend right here.

What I love about this sage tea that tames your sore throat is these are medicinal herbs that are used to create the tea blend. My first stop in helping a sore throat can be a natural remedy not an over-the-counter product.

This was important enough to me that I started making this tea for myself and I wanted to share it with others as well.

After learning what a cup of this tea does for you, believe me you will enjoy it even more so.

There are many benefits of drinking peppermint tea. Some of which are it can help calm a headaches as well as help with relaxation from anxiety and stress.

I like making a loose leaf tea blend of peppermint, lemon balm and tulsi. The blend brings out the right notes in each herb to make a delicious herbal tea. It is able to warm your body, helps with making you feel better physically with headache relief and also helps with relaxation easing stress and allows anxiety to ease. There is no need for popping pills for relief, it can come from three herbs. It all happens from the magic of peppermint tea. Wow, what a drink!

Positive Side of Covid-19

Wow, I don’t know about you but this Covid-19 seems to be banging on my door trying to demand my attention, trying to scare me and to take my calm away and hold it hostage. I don’t know if you are feeling it too but I know that a lot of my neighbors and friends are and I want to share some of my tricks with you about how to tell Old Man Scare to go away and offer Sweet Mother Nature a more permanent spot in your life right now.

Helping others

seedlings

One of the easiest ways to gain a new mindset is to take your eyes off of yourself and to help someone else. Earlier this Spring I started a lot of seeds and soon learned I didn’t have enough room for all my seedlings. I decided to put the extras out at the end of the driveway offering the plants to our neighbors. So many of our neighbors stopped thankful for the plants, it was nice to be helpful to others in my community with something that I really enjoy and stop worrying about things that concern me for a while.

Gain a new skill

herbal tea

A lot of us have extra time on our hands we can use this time to gain new skills that we are interested in. I’ve taken a class in medicinal herbal teas which I really enjoyed. I’ve already started some seeds for the herbs of the teas I like the best so I’m also learning about how to grow these new herbs in my garden. And because of these crazy times I wanted to learn how to bake better so I am taking a class where I’m learning sourdough bread and other bread baking techniques. Honestly, Ron likes the results from this class more than the herbal tea class. With learning new skills it takes up time and helps the day to go faster and my attitude stays more positive.

Celebrate the little things

homemade bread

So, as you are helping your friends and family not only does it make you feel good also take some time to reward yourself. Buy yourself something special, for me I got some new herbs. It filled more time and made me feel good as I was planting them. When I gained my new skills of making herbal teas and baking bread I celebrated by making some great teas for us to drink and I was able to make some treats for my husband which makes me feel good because it brings him enjoyment.

Yes, these are little things but each one brings little celebrations into my life helping me to take the focus off of myself, to stop feeling sorry for myself and complaining about the situation we are in right now with the stay at home order.

What about you? How are you going to help others, what are some new things you plan on learning. Most importantly, make sure to celebrate in the little things.
